Damai’s gradient density PP filter cartridge is a 20-inch Big Blue melt-blown polypropylene cartridge designed for multi-stage sediment filtration. Its graded filter structure captures larger particles in the outer layers and finer particles toward the inner core, helping reduce sediment loading on downstream filtration components.
Available in two gradient configurations, 50-25-5 micron and 50-25-1 micron, this cartridge is suitable for different sediment filtration requirements in industrial water treatment and drinking water pretreatment.

Three-Stage Gradient Filtration

This gradient density PP filter cartridge features three filtration zones with progressively finer ratings from the outside toward the inner core.
50-25-5 micron: The outer layer captures coarse sediment, the middle layer retains medium-sized particles, and the inner layer provides finer sediment filtration. This configuration is suitable for many industrial water pretreatment applications.
50-25-1 micron: The outer and middle layers capture progressively smaller sediment, while the 1-micron inner layer provides finer particle retention. It can be used in drinking water pretreatment and other applications requiring finer sediment filtration.
The appropriate configuration depends on incoming water quality, flow requirements, and downstream filtration needs. Actual particle-removal performance also depends on whether the micron rating is nominal or absolute.
Applications
The 20″ Big Blue gradient density PP filter cartridge is designed for sediment removal in:
- Industrial water filtration and pretreatment
- Commercial water treatment systems
- Drinking water filtration
- Reverse osmosis system pretreatment
- Protection of downstream carbon filters and other filtration components
The polypropylene melt-blown structure captures suspended particles such as rust, sand, and sediment. It is a physical filtration component and is not designed to remove dissolved salts or chlorine through adsorption.
Why Choose a Gradient Density PP Filter Cartridge?
The graded fiber structure allows sediment to be captured at different depths within the cartridge wall. This helps make use of the filter media throughout its thickness rather than relying solely on surface capture.
The 20-inch Big Blue format provides a larger cartridge body for compatible filter housings, while the two available gradient ratings offer options for different sediment filtration requirements.
